Health Equity Coalition
Launched May 2013, the Health Equity Coalition (HEC) is chaired by the OHE Executive Director, and is responsible for assuring:
- A comprehensive and aligned approach across VHA to tackle health and health care inequities;
- Availability of necessary resources for health equity initiatives and programs; and
- Ongoing assessment of impact on improvement.
The committee works collaboratively with executive members across VHA, VA, as well as external organizations that have expertise in health equity. OHE and the HEC work together to create a Health Equity Action Plan (HEAP) to guide the work of the office.
